About

Berwick Flames Basketball Club was founded by Kevin Rapley over 15 years ago. Our club plays all games through the Casey Basketball Association, based in South East Melbourne.

We welcome all children from the age of 5 to the age of 17 to come along and have a go at playing the game they love. ANY ability, ANY skill level, we welcome and support everyone!

Our junior domestic teams range from under 8s to under 19s, we have both boys and girls team.

Together our volunteers aim to ensure your child learns respect, team work, resilience and good sportsmanship while being part of a team.

TRAINING DETAILS

All of our teams train on Tuesday nights at Timbarra Stadium on Parkhill Drive in Berwick between 5pm and 9pm.

A member of our executive or general committee will always be in attendance.

GAME DAY

Our under 8s to under 16s play on Saturdays at various stadiums within the City of Casey.

Our under 18s play on Sundays at Casey Stadium.

Game times will vary each week but you will be notified of the game location and time in advance by your team manager.

HOUSE RULES

- Please remember you are representing your team - our club, BE RESPECTFUL

- It is Domestic Basketball not the NBA, kids are here to learn while having FUN..

- Respect referees and officials at all times, they are human, sometimes mistakes are made

(Casey Basketball Association have introduced a ZERO Tolerance for bad behaviour to all referees, which comes with a 1 week suspension for offenders)

- All Coaches and Team Managers are volunteers (If you think you can do better, please volunteer) Any form of disrespect will not be tolerated.

- All Coaches, Assistant Coaches and Team Managers must have or obtain a current WWC License. If you don’t have one please apply for one online ASAP

- No Player, Coach, Ass Coach or Team Manager can take the court unless they are registered on PlayHQ and paid the $50.00 deposit

- All players are part of a team - 100% commitment is essential at both training sessions and on game day.

- Siblings MUST be kept OFF the courts and surrounding areas at all times (This means at game day and at training)

- ALL PARENTS ARE TO HAVE THEIR TURN AT SCORING

- Parents are NOT to interfere with the coach while coaching during a game

- Parents are NOT to approach the scorer’s bench during a game at anytime

- Any concerns or issues regarding your child or team please contact your Team Manager

- Any concerns with your teams Coach or Team Manager please contact Kevin or Sue

- All Coaches and Team Managers must communicate with Kevin or Sue at all times regarding fill-ins and forfeits due to lack of numbers (Forfeits cost the club money - we like to avoid this if possible)

We are all volunteers trying our best to run this club as successfully as possible. Sometimes mistakes might get made. But we will always endeavour to work things out as quickly and efficiently as possible.. so everybody is happy..
